The Foursquare Church recently experienced the loss of a great leader, Rev. Bob Guay, who went to be with the Lord a few weeks ago. In addition to pastoring in Huntsville, Ala., Bob served as the supervisor of the Gulf Atlantic District, which comprised Alabama, Mississippi, and most of Georgia. We are grateful to Barbara Guay, Bob’s wife, for the ministry that she shared with her husband over several decades; we continue to value her ministry among us.
This loss of a district supervisor necessitates the naming of new leadership, which will be done in keeping with the recommendations made during the National Leadership Summit in Palm Springs last January. At that time, it was suggested that, as transitions occurred, small districts be incorporated into other area districts, thereby creating larger and stronger districts. On behalf of President Jack W. Hayford and the board of directors of The Foursquare Church, General Supervisor Glenn Burris Jr. announces the following district alignment of Foursquare churches in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi, effective December 1, 2005.
The board of directors has approved the creation of The Louisiana-Mississippi District, which will be under the leadership of Kim Voisin, current supervisor of the Louisiana District. The Louisiana-Mississippi District will encompass the churches in the existing Louisiana District, along with those in the state of Mississippi. Supervisor Voisin and his wife, Vanessa, pastor Vision Christian Center and have been very active in Foursquare’s efforts to provide relief to hurricane victims in the greater New Orleans area.
The board of directors has also approved the realignment of the Gulf Atlantic District, which will be under the leadership of Scott Reece, current supervisor of the Atlanta-Metro District. The Gulf Atlantic District will encompass the churches in Alabama and Georgia, including those churches that are now part of the Atlanta-Metro District. Supervisor Reece and his wife, Veronica, have been highly successful in leadership at the district level and in pastoral leadership in the Stockbridge, Ga., Foursquare Church.
We encourage everyone throughout the nation to pray for these leaders who have accepted the call of the Lord to expanded responsibility. Pray, too, for the families represented by each of these leaders, asking that the protection, wholeness, and fulfillment of the Lord will accompany all that they do in His name.
