Generosity and prayer in action! Foursquare Disaster Relief (FDR) shares response updates from summer 2023 that have been taking place around the world.
Foursquare Ukraine Kids Camp
A significant aspect of restoring communities shattered by tragedy involves instilling a sense of hope through normalcy and play, especially for children. At the Foursquare Ukraine Kids Camp, 300 children had the opportunity to experience the tangible love and joy of Christ. While FDR’s work in Ukraine persists across various relief capacities, the moment of reprieve that Foursquare kids experienced was a truly blessed occurrence for both the children and the community.
Malawi cyclone response
Cyclone Freddy stands out as one of the most destructive storms to have swept through Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe. The Foursquare Church in Malawi has been steadfastly engaged in community outreach, a mission carried out in collaboration with Foursquare Missions International.
FDR had the opportunity to contribute funding towards the recent endeavors of rebuilding church structures that were ravaged by the storm. Additionally, through your partnership, FDR provided financial support for the crucial task of re-planting essential crop supplies.
Turkey earthquake recovery
In Turkey, God’s work through the local Foursquare leadership continues to manifest powerfully. In Hatay, 2 meals per day are being provided for 1,000 people, and in Adiyaman, 3 meals a day are extended to 3,500 individuals.
Given the scorching and sweltering weather, there is an urgent requirement for water and hygiene products. However, the most immediate need is access to clean water. Thanks to your generosity, a water purifier has been installed in Hatay, enabling people to refill their water bottles. Nevertheless, the demand for other sources of clean water remains critical.
Hawaii Fire Response
Teaming up with Foursquare chaplains, New Hope Maui, and the Foursquare Pacific District, FDR swiftly orchestrated a response to the devastating fires that swept through Lahaina, Maui.
This response has been focused on community care, channeled through hands-on outreaches such as food banks and clothing drives. Additionally, trauma training has been extended to the local church community. The team has been dedicated to offering emotional and spiritual support to residents and first responders, lending a listening ear and prayer.
