It is important that all those who indicate sympathy with John Hagee’s desire to stimulate the support of Jews and Israel not be viewed as being in agreement with his personal theology, which is sometimes referred to as Dual Covenant.
Though I am not a signatory to C.U.F.I. (Christians United For Israel), I did converse with Pastor Hagee when he requested my participation in its goals. I told him I would be willing to study that possibility, believing that these issues were separate. If CUFI’s stance is rooted in a requirement that participants hold a Dual Covenant position, obviously I will be a non-participant.
Further, if CUFI promotes other than a supportive spirit towards Israel and if it advocates militaristic aggression, I would be dismayed and would be given another reason to regret my inability to use that agency as a means of affirming my abiding support for Jewish peoples and the State of Israel. I oppose all anti-Semitic attitudes and actions that are vicious and increasingly frequent in our world today.
