Pacific District Supervisor, Sheldon Lacsina

I sometimes find it difficult to write opening remarks, especially in the midst of what we’re going through with our ‘ohana on Maui. Jesus knew what we would go through and said it so well in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Thank you to all of you, who have been contributing, visiting, and bringing in strong support to the people on Maui. All that we get to do is not in vain, because it’s done for the Lord. People are being taken care of, coming to know Jesus, finding hope, and coming together in unity.

Thank you, Pastors Dwayne Betsill, and Kipi Higa, as well as many other leaders and pastors for being the boots on the ground. We know we are in it for the long haul and we are preparing for that. You could say Dwayne is working with 2 or 3 companies that are going to help out with temporary housing and future housing. Pastor Dwayne is working with 2 or 3 companies that are going to help out with temporary housing and future housing.

If you know of any skilled person, when it comes to the rebuilding of Maui, please share that information with pastor Bunny. We are putting together a list of skilled people for when the need arises. Please vet these people before sending the information so that we have qualified people.

Here are some prayer points for Maui:

  1. Hope, healing, and strength
  2. Spiritual restoration (some are struggling with their faith)
  3. Rebuilding

Thank you once again for being here for our ‘ohana on Maui, as well as for those who were affected by the devastation that lives elsewhere.

As we prepare for the future, I want to encourage you to remember who you are and how valuable you are to the Kingdom. The Pacific District Foursquare Leadership Conference is coming up soon. This is a time for us to come together to build relationships, disciple, one, another, and be empowered as we carry out the assignments God has given to us. We are all together on mission! The conference begins on Monday, Oct. 23, and ends on Wednesday, Oct. 25. We will be gathering at New Hope Oahu.

I always look forward to seeing everyone together and am thrilled that we get to share ideas and share our cultures in our different contexts. Let’s continue to be the people that are making us to be! I’m so proud of us not just as a district or a denomination, but as the kingdom of God!
