President Jack Hayford and General Supervisor Glenn Burris gathered with regional pastors and leaders on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 4 p.m. to dedicate the Holland Lodge at CrossPointe in Christiansburg, Va. Created as a conference center for The Foursquare Church, CrossPointe also houses the Center for Spiritual Renewal, which serves Foursquare ministers and their families by providing care and counseling during times of crisis.

The Holland Lodge is named in memory of Dr. John R. Holland, the third president of The Foursquare Church, who served in that role for nine years. Having been a pastor for more than two decades, in addition to having served in supervisory roles for more than 15 years, Dr. Holland was uniquely graced with the qualities needed in a president at that particular time in The Foursquare Church. His keen administrative skills, combined with the heart of a true shepherd, enabled him to lead the church into a period of both expansion and maturity. Because Dr. Holland had such a shepherd’s heart, he initiated a pastoral care program designed to assist pastors and their families—C.A.R.E. The key components in this program are Compassion, Affirmation, Restoration, and Encouragement. CrossPointe has been established in the spirit of that same commitment to caring for those who serve the Kingdom.

The Holland Lodge will extend the ministry of CrossPointe by providing attractive and comfortable accommodations for all who seek counsel, care, and rest on its grounds. Pastor Jack Hayford stated, “I could not be more pleased to dedicate the Holland Lodge to the work of the Kingdom, knowing that the ministry of which it is a part is such a reflection of the heart of the man for whom it is named. Dr. John Holland gave his entire life to serving the Lord and His people, and this is a fitting monument to a lifetime of caring, effective ministry.”

CrossPointe Conference Center is located in southwest Virginia, on the campus that formerly housed Life Bible College East. More information regarding CrossPointe is available on the website.
