On Thursday, July 9, 2009, Evangeline (“Vangie”) Carmichael McPherson, widow of Dr. Rolf Kennedy McPherson, passed away unexpectedly from complications during open heart surgery. She was 82 years old. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Carmichael Parks; and two granddaughters, Amanda Parks Leddy and Acacia Parks Sheiner.

Since the McPhersons’ marriage in 1997, Evangeline was incredibly dedicated and committed to Dr. McPherson. She sat devotedly by his bedside in the last weeks and days of his life. Those who knew Dr. McPherson well often remarked about the change in his appearance and countenance after he married Vangie. Her presence in Dr. McPherson’s life brightened his latter years, and his life was, most likely, extended by several years because of Vangie’s care.

A private memorial service was held Wednesday, July 15, 2009, and was followed by interment in the McPherson family crypt at Forest Lawn in Glendale, Calif. Memorial donations may be made to the following ministries:
