As part of this year’s annual convention, Foursquare leaders who speak Spanish will experience not just dynamic worship and Spirit-led ministry in the Word of God, but also the opportunity to interact during the business sessions.

For the first time in the history of Foursquare conventions, an English/Spanish translator will be available on microphone during the business sessions. Spanish-speaking leaders in attendance will now hear in Spanish what is being said, and have a chance to comment and ask questions during the meeting.

It’s part of helping Foursquare leaders to develop more effective ministry skills for the expanding multicultural, global-church reality that is right here in the U.S. It also reflects the heart of both Connection 2012 and Foursquare’s theme this year, which is “Speak—Reclaim Our Voice.”

“I am excited to see how God in recent years has raised the voice of the Hispanic church in the Foursquare family,” says Concilio Hispano (Hispanic Council) Chairman Daniel Prieto. Daniel maintains that it is time for Hispanic ministers and leaders to be heard as never before, and he believes the events of Foursquare Connection 2012 will provide that opportunity.

Connection 2012, to be held in Phoenix May 28–31, is for leaders from all areas of ministry representing multiple language groups—all worshiping the Lord and growing together to powerfully “reclaim our voice.” Other sessions are as follows.

Conexion Hispana

The Conexion Hispana (Hispanic Connection) general session on Wednesday morning will feature worship led by Frank Giraldo, lead pastor of Iglesia Agua Viva (Santa Barbara Hispanic Foursquare Church) in Santa Barbara, Calif. He has ministered extensively throughout the U.S. and Latin America with Hosanna Integrity, Maranatha! Music and Canzion Productions.

Foursquare Mexico President José Manual Sanchez, senior pastor of Centro Cristiano International (International Christian Center) in Mexico, and Foursquare Pastor Frank Nuno, senior pastor of Dayspring Christian Fellowship (Panorama City Foursquare Church) in Panorama City, Calif., will speak during Conexion Hispana.

General Sessions

In addition to the language-specific Conexion Hispana on Wednesday, all general sessions during Foursquare Connection 2012 will be translated for Spanish-speaking leaders. Headsets can be reserved as part of the registration process for Connection this year.

Because about 14 percent of our family of U.S.-based Foursquare churches are primarily Spanish-speaking, attendees will be sure to see fellow Spanish-speakers throughout convention, as well as during the general sessions, leading ministry.

Los Angeles worship leader and songwriter Eric Diaz will lead worship at each morning session. Eric currently serves as the Spanish-language worship pastor at The Rock (Anaheim Foursquare Church) in Anaheim, Calif., and has led worship alongside artists Hillsong United, Marcos Barrientos, Freddie Rodriguez and others. Main speakers will include Obed Orozco, a licensed Foursquare minister and the senior pastor of Grace to the Nations (Tuscon Grace Chapel Foursquare Church), a bilingual, multicultural and multigenerational church in Tucson, Ariz.
