At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, Carole Williams, beloved wife of Dr. Ron Williams, passed into the presence of the Lord. In November 2006 Carole was hospitalized for colon surgery, following which complications arose. Just a few days before her passing, she returned to her home in Bodfish, California, where she was under supervised home care.
Carole Williams completed four years of study in Life Pacific College (formerly called LIFE Bible College), specializing in Christian education. During their college years, she and Ron served as assistant pastors in Thousand Oaks and Santa Fe Springs, Calif. In 1965, Ron and Carole moved to Surrey, British Columbia to plant the Sunshine Hills Foursquare Gospel Church. Following four and a half years of ministry in Canada, the Williamses were appointed to Hong Kong as Foursquare missionaries; they ministered in Hong Kong for 16 years (1969-1985), during which time Carole served on the national board, representing women’s ministries. She was also on the executive board of Christian Businesswomen’s Fellowship, a witness outreach among English-speaking expatriate ladies living in Hong Kong.
Returning to Los Angeles in 1985, Carole joined the staff at the central offices, working in Foursquare Publications; she transferred four years later to the loan department, where she served until October 1997. In addition, she and her husband ministered extensively on weekends in local churches. From 2001-2004, the Williamses also served as senior pastors of the Commission for Christ Foursquare Church, a Chinese congregation in South El Monte, Calif.
Carole’s most outstanding ministry was that of mother to three married sons–Scott (Dana), Mark (Lynn) and Derek (Sonia); and grandmother to four–Kyle, Hannah, Grace and Harrison. She was widely loved as a result of her spirit of generosity and hospitality and the correspondence she maintained with long-time friends and acquaintances. In 2004, the Williamses moved to Bodfish, Calif., where Ron has continued to serve as Foursquare’s official historian.
