On October 4, 200,000 churches in 175 nations will come together for the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.
The event, which happens annually on the first Sunday in October, has become the largest Israel-focused prayer event in history. The occasion looks to raise global awareness and intercession for God’s purposes in Israel, as well as to unite believers around the world to pray on behalf of this troubled, but strategic, land and its people. It was founded in 2002 and coincides with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.
Foursquare President Pastor Jack Hayford, a co-founder of the event, is among the 1,200 leaders who continue to support the Day of Prayer. “God is stirring the hearts of Christians from China to Germany and from Kenya to Brazil, to raise our voices in fervent intercession on behalf of Jerusalem and all her inhabitants, both Jew and Arab alike,” according to co-chairmen Pastor Jack and Robert Stearns, founder and executive director of Eagles’ Wings.
