What can I give?

I don’t know about you, but this question occasionally keeps me from ministering: “What do I have to give?” Our world is filled with countless needs. At times, we don’t know where to start with the endless demands.

In Acts 3:1-10, we find Christ’s salvation multiplied. Peter and John knew their limitations, yet allowed the Spirit’s empowerment to minister beyond their abilities. Peter honestly disclosed that he didn’t have any money. These apostles could have simply encouraged the man and kept going. In spite of their lack, Peter spiritually saw the man healed. In response, the lame man jumped up and walked! This healed man’s testimony caused many to receive salvation that day.

When we focus on our physical limitations, we can’t see the opportunities to divinely minister to others. The apostles’ silver or gold (if they had any) would not have helped the lame man to walk. Their money would only have been a temporary aid instead of complete healing.

Let’s not allow our limitations to get in the way of releasing Spirit-empowered healing. Let’s start asking, “What can I give?” knowing that the Spirit’s empowerment in us is always greater than any limitation we encounter.

Personal Prayer

1. Ask the Lord to help us to see the people that He has brought into our lives.

2. Ask the Lord to show us where we have allowed our lack to overshadow His kingdom opportunities.

3. Let’s continue to ask for Spirit empowerment to accomplish the mission of God within our lives.

4. As we enter the season of Advent, ask the Lord to speak through the busy moments into the heart of every congregant, ushering in a spirit of peace and intimacy with Him.

5. Ask God to bless your outreaches and offerings this month, and to reveal those in your community who truly need divine intervention and ministry.
