At the fall conference of the MidSouth District of The Foursquare Church, author and speaker Grant Skeldon gave a survey of the millennial and Gen Z generations, and how the church can not only can reach them, but also utilize their strengths in ministry.

Grant advised that the best thing leaders can do to reach young people is to commit to authentic discipleship. He said he has noticed that most churches don’t have a strategic plan for discipleship. He addressed how young people are looking for authentic personal engagement above engaging church services. According to Grant, people believe the church is losing millennials because we ask them to do too much, but we may instead be asking them to do too little.

The greatest need of young people is someone to invest in them and lead them into something great—in other words, the Great Commission.
