The call of the shepherd

The Bible talks about the shepherd-sheep relationship over 500 times. This term is often used to describe the relationship between those who are pastors or in ministry leadership and the people they lead. So, what does it mean to be a shepherd of God’s people? In this keynote address, originally delivered at Foursquare Connection 2024, Benji Horning, senior pastor of Light Church (Encinitas South CA Foursquare Church) in Encinitas, Calif., delves into what being a shepherd is all about. Using 1 Peter 5 as a guide, he describes the posture shepherds are to take, the pressures shepherds face, and the promise that God gives to shepherds. Along the way, he encourages all ministry leaders to remain faithful to the call God has placed upon their lives.
