Stay the course

“I’ve been running with Jesus for a long time, and I’m not tired yet.” These lyrics from a song by the Mississippi Mass Choir serve as the theme to Doretha O’Quinn’s keynote address from Connection 2024. She reminds pastors and ministry leaders that, although the path God has set before them is often longer and harder than they might wish, God has called them to stay the course. She outlines three principles to keep in mind as they seek to stay the course: (1) knowing who they are; (2) knowing who their true adversary is; and (3) knowing what their ultimate goal is. Using Scripture, humorous anecdotes and her own extensive ministry experience as a guide, Doretha encourages leaders—wherever they are, and though they might have been running for a while—that their journey is not over yet, and Jesus is right there beside them along the way.
