Reverend Samuel Rodríguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, is renowned for his work to combine the evangelistic ministry of Billy Graham with the civil rights advocacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At Conexión Hispana, a Spanish-speaking worship and teaching event for Hispanic and Latino audiences at Foursquare Connection 2013 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Rev. Rodríguez shared this perspective and encouraged Foursquare churches to become involved in both evangelism and social outreach.

“The cross is vertical and horizontal,” said Rev. Rodríguez. And the structure of the cross is no accident.

In this powerful message, recorded live at Connection 2013, Rev. Rodríguez calls the church to reconcile the two elements of the cross—the vertical and horizontal. As Christians, he says, we must desire salvation and transformation, relationship with God and relationship with the community. We must be inspired to live out Matt. 25 and John 3:16. Then, once we accept this “agenda del cordero” (agenda of the lamb), we will discover how to be like Jesus in our ministries that connect us to God and people.
