Welcome to Day 8 of 21 Days of Prayer + Fasting 2023. To follow along, visit FoursquarePrayer.org.
Healing of the body, soul and spirit is one of the greatest needs for gospel expression today. As we focus on Jesus as the Healer, may we be the hands and feet of His body to administer wholeness, believing He is as incarnate through us today as He was when He walked the earth.
Today’s Scripture
“When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: ‘He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness.’”
—Matthew 8:16-17 (NKJV)
“And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and casting out demons. Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, ‘If you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.”
—Mark 1:39-42 (NKJV)
“Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”
—Psalm 103:2-3 (NIV)
Prayer + Reflection
- We read in the Bible that entire villages placed faith in Christ because of miraculous healing. Let’s pray for the same to happen in our own communities.
- Pray for the mental-health crisis that is taking place in our communities. Pray especially for children, youth and young adults to experience soundness of mind.
- Pray that your church would become a place of refuge, healing and hope
for all.
Family Moment
Lights, camera, action! Read Mark 1:39-42, and take a few minutes to gather props and costumes. Select a family member to re-read the passage slowly as narrator, and encourage the rest of the family members to act out the pas- sage. What stood out to you in the story? What did you learn about Jesus? Take time to respond and then pray for people you know who need physical or spiritual healing.
