When The Christian Chronicle published its recent article, “Tiny Houses, Big Mission,” it cast a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible work being done through Houses for Healing, a ministry offering free, short-term housing to patients traveling to Abilene, Texas for medical care. At the heart of this ministry is Hope 4 Life Foursquare Church, whose commitment to compassion and service has made a lasting impact both within the church walls and throughout the Big Country.
In the article, Senior Pastor Bruce Tentzer shared, “Our partnership with Houses for Healing has become one of the greatest sources of blessing and unity for our church family and for the entire body of Christ in the Big Country. From the very beginning, Hope 4 Life Foursquare has been deeply invested in this ministry—not only financially, but with our hands and hearts as well.”
Pastor Bruce also told The Christian Chronicle, “At Houses for Healing, our congregation has discovered a tangible way to extend the love and mercy of Jesus to some of the most vulnerable people in our community. This ministry gives those with the gift of mercy a place to serve in practical, Spirit-led ways, and it has fostered a spirit of generosity and unity among churches across denominational lines.”
The church’s involvement has gone beyond support—it has become an integral part of the mission. Church members regularly clean, stock, and care for the home, provide transportation and meals to guests, and ensure that every visitor receives a Bible and a warm welcome. Associate Pastor Carl Jones and other church members are actively working and leading at Houses for Healing, further strengthening the bond between the church and the ministry.
“I am especially grateful for the friendship and leadership of the Houses for Healing director, Brian Massey,” Pastor Bruce told The Christian Chronicle. “And thankful that members of our church… are working, leading, and serving at the Houses for Healing.”
At its core, the ministry represents more than an outreach program. It is a living expression of the Gospel—hospitality offered in Jesus’ name, hope extended to the hurting, and the Church united in action.
“As we give, volunteer, and serve together, we are reminded that our calling is not just to preach the Gospel, but to live it out through works of mercy and hospitality,” Pastor Bruce said in the article. “Houses for Healing is more than a ministry; it is a testimony to the unity and power of Christ’s love in action, bringing hope to our city and glory to our God, all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are thankful for the opportunity to be His hands and His feet.”
