As we move toward our upcoming gathering in Denver, I’m finding myself experiencing a growing anticipation as we pray earnestly and plan creatively for Foursquare Connection 2025. This anticipation is not just borne out of consideration of who is speaking and leading us in worship, or in the planned ministry resourcing; it is more rooted in a prophetic sense of divine purpose and timing.

I am always reticent to overcook things spiritually, and I’m bent toward downplaying things more than overstating. However, at this moment, I am speaking from a place of sincerity of motivation and hope for the future as I express my anticipation.

In Denver, I will commence my second term in this assignment as president. When I began my first term, I did so by outlining Four Priorities that we will continue to build upon: Prayer, Together, Discipleship and Health.

As well, we identified a target of “More and growing leaders together on mission.” In the first term, there has been an emphasis on the “growing” and “together” portion of that statement.

At cabinet, I shared a vision that has been stirring in my heart—one that I believe will set the course for the next five years.

In the next term, I want to focus on the “more” and “mission” portion of the target. In other words, to answer the question, “We are together, but for what purpose?” Both are needed, relationship and shared mission, and I believe that those two points of focus do more to unite us than any other factor. We want to continue to emphasize and commit to stronger and healthier relationships, but we also endeavor to do so in the context of divine assignment as The Foursquare Church.

In March, we held our Foursquare annual cabinet meetings, which informed some of the conversations and decisions that our board of directors are making as we prepare for our annual convention in Denver.

Those three days are always valuable, and I am grateful for the men and women who give their all to participate in that time. At cabinet, I shared some vision that has been stirring in my heart—one that I believe will set the course for the next five years.

I see it as a prophetic focus, to which I will share in more detail during the Tuesday morning session at Foursquare Connection. The focus is embodied in these three statements:

Pursuing His Presence

We are spiritual people who live in the fullness of His presence, where we find joy, transformation and empowerment for mission. If we lose the fervency of first love, we will lose the life that births the fruitfulness we desire to continue. Our Pentecostal identity is unto mission (Acts 1:8), and our passion for knowing, listening, obeying and trusting Him is rooted in a corporate commitment to walking in the fullness of His power and in the light of His glory. His empowering presence among us is non-negotiable.

Passing the Flame

We are called to raise up and empower every generation—identifying, equipping and releasing leaders to carry the mission forward. We all have a torch to carry, but the flame is continually being passed with intentionality and mutuality from generation to generation.

Possessing the Land

With faith and courage, we enter into God’s promises, push back darkness and advance His kingdom in every place He calls us. This is a season of multiplication and expansion as we purposefully reach more people, spaces and places.

If you haven’t registered or made plans to be in Denver, I want to encourage you to join. The vantage point that Connection brings us, a perspective on the larger movement we are a part of, is always encouraging and inspiring. And you are missed when you are not there.

Let me close by saying how deeply grateful I am for you. The ministry happening in your community, through the life of the local church, is the very heartbeat of our Foursquare movement. Please know that we are here to serve you, to champion you, and to provide the best support possible.

Today, I prayed for you from the prayer of Paul recorded in Colossians 1:9-12 (NIV):

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.”

I look forward to seeing you at Foursquare Connection 2025 and to all that God has ahead for us.
