“Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness.”—Martin Luther
What an exciting year this has been in The Foursquare Church. As we look back at 2013, we can recount God’s consistent blessing and provision upon individuals and upon our church. We have firsthand knowledge of His willingness to act on behalf of His people.
I am excited about the coming year, and I know that, as we continue to believe and pray together, God will continue to lead, direct and bless our Foursquare family. Our prayer theme for 2014 will focus on the Five Targets, with an emphasis on “Multiply.” This includes growing, expanding and moving each target forward as a part of the Reimagine Foursquare multi-year journey that we have been visiting for the past few years and will continue to do so as the Lord leads.
The Five Targets are:
- Target 1: Discipling Healthy, Reproducing Leaders
- Target 2: Growing Healthy Churches
- Target 3: Reaching and Discipling Nations
- Target 4: Diversifying Leadership
- Target 5: Resourcing Leaders
The Foursquare Church will also participate in various interdenominational and global prayer events:
- May 1, 2014: National Day of Prayer
- June 8, 2014: Global Day of Prayer
- Sept. 11, 2014: Cry Out America 9/11 Prayer Initiative
- Sept. 24, 2014: See You at the Pole
- Oct. 5, 2014: Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem
- Oct. 26, 2014: Global Day to Pray for the Unreached Peoples of the World
- Nov. 2, 2014: Prayer for the Persecuted Church
I encourage you to join with me as we pray about the weekly concerns that are brought before us in the updated Foursquare Leader Prayer email, which is now mobile friendly for all our leaders on the move. If you would like a prayer request included in our weekly prayer email, please post it to Twitter with #4prayer.
And I encourage you to join with the larger community of believers for the various times of special prayer throughout the year. Our world can be changed as we pray and help mobilize the whole church to take the whole gospel to the whole world.
May God bless you and your congregation as we enter a new year and a new season of discovering God’s direction and walking in His provision for The Foursquare Church.
