Chair Nate Poetzl will complete his nine-year term on the board of directors on Aug. 31. Nate was appointed in 2017 while Glenn Burris Jr. was president; he continued serving on the board with President Randy Remington. The board appointed Nate as chair in 2020.
A graduate of Eugene Bible College in Oregon, with a master’s degree in biblical studies from Multnomah Biblical Seminary, Nate has concurrently served as lead pastor of Faith Chapel since 2013. The multisite church is based in Billings, Mont.
“Nate has served uniquely in this role.” says President Randy Remington, who has served alongside Nate on the board. “He is passing the baton and exiting with a strong reputation for integrity, competency and wisdom.” He adds that Nate has always communicated clearly and succinctly, facilitating robust conversations accompanied by mutual submission, which enabled every director’s best contributions. His commitment to biblical fidelity and a spirit of unity are hallmarks of his leadership.
Randy notes that Pastor Nate and the Faith Chapel congregation are known for their generosity, stewardship, commitment to multiplication and global Foursquare missions. He recalls Nate opening up his church in 2021 for a “family gathering,” due to that year’s pandemic restrictions. Faith Chapel’s staff, volunteers and worship team worked tirelessly to serve weary Foursquare leaders, expecting nothing in return. Randy remembers that “the event was a meaningful time for all who gathered together and is still talked about as a significant moment in our movement.” Additionally, the Faith Chapel worship teams have led adults, children and youth in powerful, Spirit-filled times of worship at our past two Foursquare Connections in Denver and San Antonio.
“Pastor Nate’s reputation as a theologian, Bible teacher, visionary pastor and integrated Foursquare leader is, without question, a sterling one. We are deeply grateful for Pastor Nate’s leadership, and acknowledge that his presence on the Board will be greatly missed.” says Randy.
Adam Davidson, vice president of administrative operations and corporate secretary, states that Nate’s time on the board has been “profound and transformative.”
Adam says that Nate, going above and beyond, brought an additional level of engagement that will live far into the future. “Nate helped establish a healthy board culture,” Adam explains. “His words and culture-shaping were so impactful that we added them to the orientation materials for new board members.”

Heather Moore, who also will conclude her term as vice chairperson on Aug. 31, says Nate has been a tremendous gift to the Foursquare family, leading with “integrity of heart” and “skillful hands” (Psalm 78:72, NIV).
“He possesses humility, experience and wisdom, is able to unite diverse voices, and guided conversations toward mission and vision,” states Heather, who serves as senior pastor of Hope Chapel Kailua Kona (Kailua Kona Foursquare Church) in Kailua, Hawaii. “I have learned much as he stewarded the role as board chair. It has been an honor to serve with him.”
One of Nate’s favorite aspects of serving on the board—which he says he will miss the most—was developing relationships with people that wouldn’t have existed outside of their board service.
Nate notes that one of his guiding philosophies the past nine years was to offer constructive criticism. After determining whether that should be offered publicly or privately, he says he never offered criticism without also offering to help reach a solution. In addition, he resolved to keep Foursquare’s focus on the main thing: Jesus.
“As a board, there will be many opportunities to draw our attention to other things,” Nate states. “It’s why we have to resolve to know nothing but Jesus and Him crucified. There will be many things that have great potential, but we have to ask: Is it something that keeps us focused on the gospel?”
Foursquare’s new chair and vice-chair of the board will be announced on Sept. 1, 2026.
