Ted Vail at Connection 2022

Foursquare Connection 2023 will be a time to celebrate the past, engage the present and venture into our shared future: together on mission.

Are you ready for this?

Yesterday, Today and Forever

As we join together in Anaheim later this month, we can’t wait to celebrate Jesus and all that God has done in and through Foursquare over the past 100 years.

However, we’re not going to miss our “right now” moment together. We expect to experience the fullness of Jesus in our midst as we worship, hear God’s Word and just hang out together. Just like you, I want to make some new friends and reconnect with my “already friends.”

That alone would be epic, but we are eager—just this side of jumping—with expectation of what God has in store for the future. Might our time also be a prophetic one? One that launches us into an adventurous future of more and growing leaders together on mission?

There are some things that only happen when we are together that don’t happen alone. It won’t be the same without you, so come, join in as we worship and celebrate God together.

Centennial Celebration

The heart behind our Centennial Celebration happening throughout Connection is a collective and united one. Our hearts yearn to lift up Jesus in our generation and look to future generations. It is reminiscent of Acts Chapter 2 and 1906 Azusa Street: Where young and old, men and women, from many countries and contexts, all converge to worship and cry out to God together.

Who knows? Perhaps some of us will get some fresh insights from the Holy Spirit or a new assignment from the Lord of the harvest! As we remember yesterday and look toward forever, we come prepared for the Spirit to move today.

I’ve heard rumors that the Gospel Car 2.0 will be attending, along with the original prayer rails from Angelus Temple, and the original cross from the dome of Angelus Temple. There will be “heritage themes” in many of our workshops and messages.

Like you, perhaps, I’m not that interested in going back in time just for history’s sake or to merely revisit historical figures or facilities; but our history can inspire and energize us to lift Jesus distinctly and creatively in our generation. And honestly—what’s the point of keeping the original prayer rails in storage for all these years if we aren’t going to put them to good use? Not to mention Randy Remington, our Foursquare president, is leading morning prayer on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7 a.m. (PDT), and there will be room for you in our pop-up 500 Room.

Another exciting aspect of Foursquare Connection, and even more so our Centennial Celebration, is that the world is truly coming together to celebrate! You won’t want to miss Foursquare leaders speaking dozens of different languages: Some are global leaders traversing time zones to celebrate together, while others live and serve as Foursquare leaders right in the U.S.! There is something that brings us a little closer to heaven and that Revelation 7:9 multitude when we all come together and worship. You just can’t get this experience in many places.

Global Summit

Speaking of cultures and contexts gathering to celebrate, the Global Summit is being held at Angelus Temple in Los Angeles at 2 p.m. (PDT) on Sunday, May 28. This is the actual ground-zero reactor core-launch pad for this global movement we are part of. (Can you tell I’m excited?)

And it just gets better: May 28 is the Day of Pentecost!

Imagine being in a worship service at Angelus Temple—right where it all began—with leaders, missionaries and pastors from all over the world, celebrating Jesus for gifting us with 100 years of amazingness right on the Day of Pentecost! We’ll have time to celebrate stories of the past, engage soulfully in the present, catch vision for the future and worship in many languages. We have a few surprises in store, as well, that you don’t want to miss.

During our time, get ready to experience worship in many languages, get fired up as global leaders and missionary workers share what is happening through the nations, and prepare to leave ready to take action to reach the unreached.

You will even have the opportunity to be prayed for right at the Angelus Temple altar. We’ve experienced the outpouring of God’s Spirt many times in this space, and we are believing not only that we will be fired up, but also that we will be filled up.

I bring more good news! There will be plenty of parking available at Angelus Temple, but you can sign up to hitch a ride to the Global Summit from the Anaheim Marriott on our complimentary bus service; just be sure to add that ride to your Connection registration. In addition, you’ll be able to walk through the Heritage Center located at the original Parsonage of Aimee Semple McPherson, which will be open on May 28 from Noon-2 p.m. and again from 5:45-7:30 p.m.

Celebration activated!

So, what do you think? Are you in? There are some things that only happen when we are together that don’t happen alone. It won’t be the same without you, so come, join in as we worship and celebrate God together.

You are probably aware that there is a place near the Anaheim Convention Center that is the self-proclaimed “Happiest Place on Earth.” I would like to think we could relocate that distinction for a few days: Let’s come together as the happiest people moving both heaven and Earth!
