I wanted to take a moment to update you on how our Foursquare family has been responding to the devastating wildfires impacting communities across Central Oregon and Central and Eastern Washington.
Over the past week, we have watched our pastors, churches, and volunteers respond with incredible compassion and courage. This has truly been a full team effort.
Through the partnership of more than 20 local churches, Foursquare Disaster Relief (FDR), district leadership, chaplains, and hundreds of volunteers, we have come alongside those affected by these fires.
Churches have opened their facilities to serve as gathering places for firefighters and first responders. They have provided meals and supplies, and cared for families who have been displaced or have experienced the loss of homes and property. Our pastors have been on the front lines, offering practical help, prayer, encouragement, and the hope of Christ in the midst of heartbreaking circumstances.
We are grateful for the many ways our churches have responded so quickly and generously. It is a beautiful picture of the body of Christ serving together.
While we have already been able to provide support and resources, the need continues to grow. As fires persist, so do the opportunities to care for pastors, churches, and communities that are actively serving those in need.
If you are able, we invite you to partner with us by giving to Foursquare Disaster Relief’s Fire Response Fund.
Every gift will help us continue sending resources, assistance, and support where it is needed most. Your generosity enables us to respond quickly and stand alongside our churches as they minister in these affected communities.
Most importantly, we ask you to join us in prayer.
Please pray:
- That these fires would be contained and ultimately cease.
- For God’s protection over firefighters, first responders, volunteers, and everyone serving on the front lines.
- For the safety of families and communities, and that there would be no further loss of life or property.
- For those who have been displaced or suffered great loss, that they would experience God’s comfort, peace, and hope.
- For our pastors and churches as they continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their communities.
God reminds us in Psalm 46:1:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (ESV)
Even in moments of uncertainty and loss, we can be confident that God is present, and through His Church, His love is being made visible every day.
Thank you for your continued prayers, your generosity, and your willingness to serve. It is a privilege to be part of a denomination that faithfully cares for one another and for our communities in times of crisis.
Together, we can continue bringing hope, help, and the presence of Jesus to those who need it most.
You can help!
