NextGen leaders often find themselves the de facto appointed person, and the pace of ministry can often leave them under-resourced and untrained. Unless NextGen leaders and pastors begin an intentional process of learning and developing emotionally healthy practices, this is unlikely to change. We now have access to a lot of great resources to help avoid burnout and to build a healthy future for NextGen ministry. These resources were recommended by P.J. Moon, NextGen director for the Midsouth District.
The Emotionally Healthy Leader by Peter Scazzero
Though it’s been out a few years, this is still one of the greatest books to help with the development and health of leaders today. It’s a fantastic tool for understanding and strengthening the emotional side of what NextGen ministry and ministers need.
It's Just a Phase by The Phase Project
This website helps give language to the who, why and what in reaching the next generation. It can really help with discipleship pathways in NextGen work and provides great clarity into where the next generation is at across key developmental stages.
