Life Pacific College (LPC) has named Dr. Robert W. Flores as interim president of the college. The board of directors of The Foursquare Church confirmed Dr. Flores’ appointment, upon his recommendation by the LPC board of trustees. This appointment follows the departure of Rev. Dan Stewart, who announced in March that he is transitioning from college president after five years of faithful service.

According to Rev. Dennis Easter, chairman of the LPC board of trustees, Dr. Flores will assume his new responsibilities July 1, 2008. He will serve in the interim role while the search for a permanent president is conducted.

A graduate of LIFE Bible College (now called Life Pacific College), Robert earned a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He, along with his wife, Diana (DeeDee), is senior pastor of the West Salem Foursquare Church in Salem, Ore., a church they planted in 1994. Additionally, Robert has served on the board of directors of The Foursquare Church since 2002.

Dr. Jack Hayford stated, “I, along with the board of directors of The Foursquare Church, could not be more pleased with the appointment of Robert Flores to the position of interim president of Life Pacific College; he has our full endorsement, and we know that he is uniquely equipped to lead the school into an exciting future. In addition to his academic qualifications, Robert has more than twenty years of pastoral experience, an extremely positive quality in someone leading an institution that prepares men and women for ministry. I know that he and DeeDee will fulfill this latest assignment with the diligence and grace that have marked their ministry among us in the past.”

Dennis Easter, on behalf of the LPC board of trustees, echoed Dr. Hayford’s endorsement: “We are thrilled to lean on Robert’s leadership as we prepare for a new school year in the fall. His availability is timely, and it makes way for the presidential search committee to continue prayerfully considering the next full time president for Life Pacific College.”

Both the board of trustees of LPC and the board of directors of The Foursquare Church ask that you pray for the Floreses and the Stewarts during this time of transition. Dan and Connie Stewart are currently serving as senior pastors at the Simi Valley Foursquare Church, and Dan will continue as an instructor at Life Pacific College. As Robert and DeeDee step out in obedience to the voice of the Lord, prayer is also requested for the West Salem Foursquare Church from which they depart.

“What a joy it is to serve my Foursquare family in this new assignment,” Robert stated. “DeeDee and I are grateful for the ministry we’ve been a part of thus far, and we can’t wait to see God’s story continue to unfold in the lives of students at Life Pacific College!”
