General Supervisor Glenn Burris Jr., on behalf of President Jack W. Hayford and the board of directors, announce the appointment of John Long as supervisor of the L.A. Northeast Valleys District of Foursquare churches effective March 15, 2008. John fills the position that until now has been held by regional supervisor Robby Booth serving as interim supervisor of the district. The appointment is a decision that has been prayerfully considered by the district council, the Foursquare board and National Church Office leadership.

In 1968, when John was 19 years old, he received Christ at the Italian Pentecostal church in Alhambra, Calif. He married Angela in June 1969, and together they have three children and six grandchildren. In 1981, John earned a standard diploma from Life Pacific College (also known as LIFE Bible College) and returned 10 years later to earn his bachelor’s degree. He completed his master of divinity degree at Azusa Pacific University in 2001.

John and Angela first attended the Monterey Park Foursquare Church in January 1977 and would later return to serve as senior pastors of the same congregation from 1987 to the present. They also have pastored Foursquare churches in Goleta and Long Beach, Calif. In addition to John’s pastoral duties, he has been adjunct professor at Life Pacific College for six years (2000-2006) and since 1988, has served as divisional superintendent in both the Southern California District and the L.A. Northeast Valleys District.

Leadership of The Foursquare Church is grateful for the outstanding leadership of Robby Booth in the district and especially for the care of district ministers during his service as interim supervisor. John’s appointment will release much needed time for Robby to continue with his regional supervisory role, and with his other national duties with the National Church Office.
