It’s Our Time!  I recently viewed a video with that title, and it captured the essence of where I believe we are at this time in our Foursquare family. The 2-1/2 minute production resonated in my spirit and confirmed the sense that we are at a crossroad of vital importance. The call of Matt. 28:19-20 to make disciples of all nations demands our passionate response. You may preview the video here. There will be an option to purchase after viewing a preview.

Israel faced a critical decision at Kadesh Barnea (see Num. 13-14). The Lord had instructed Moses, “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel” (Num. 13:2, NKJV). Twelve spies surveyed the land for 40 days and observed that the land was beautiful and fertile; it even flowed with “milk and honey” (Num. 13:27).

It was Israel’s time! The Lord had proclaimed His promise and had positioned His people at an exciting crossroad. He wanted them to believe and go forward, and He invited their partnership in bringing about the realization of the promise.

They could see the land and its pleasing assets—but they could also see the challenges (giants!). Only Joshua and Caleb had eyes of faith to see that God would give them victory over the giants. We all know the tragedy of what happened that day. The Israelites missed their moment.

I believe The Foursquare Church has the Joshua and Caleb DNA! We will not make the Kadesh Barnea mistake. Knowing the spiritual level and integrity of our leadership, I’ve never been more hopeful and expectant.

As we move forward in obedience to God’s directive to “Take the Whole Gospel to the Whole World,” I believe that all of the assets we need will become available to us by His grace. As with Israel, the Lord invites our proactive partnership to plan wisely, proceed purposefully and prevail. I believe that we will see revival fires ignite across our nation and world.

On that note, we are looking forward to Connection 2013, May 28–30, in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. This year’s theme, “Engage: Learn, Live, Lead,” demonstrates the synergy that rises out of collaborative enterprise.

Because we are a denomination that highly values family, we chose this location in order to give a significant block of time for families to be together in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You can register online here. We are honored to announce that the guest speakers include more than 15 exemplary leaders, including authors John Bevere and Dr. Henry Cloud.

A new feature of our gathering this year is that all business reports and videos will be available online to view before convention. Those who cannot attend will be able to watch the main sessions online in real time. The convention website will be updated continually with new information.

Last year we read through the Gospels as a Foursquare family. We’re very excited to tell you that we just released a booklet, Journey Through the Gospels, which contains all 52 devotionals from last year. It includes discussion questions and prayer points for small groups. Journey Through the Gospels is available as in softcover or as an e-book; bulk orders are available for softcover books by calling 213.989.4230.

Please continue to use your Life Journal as we stay connected with one another this year through our Bible reading plan and the weekly online devotionals. For more information, log on to foursquarejournal.com.
