On Thursday, March 24, 2011, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the nation of Myanmar. The temblor’s epicenter was just north of the Thai border and the city of Tachilek, where a great spiritual harvest has been taking place with over 80 Foursquare churches planted in the past 10 years.

Foursquare leaders and others in the area report that there is some damage in Thailand and Tachilek. The village of Tarlay, however, has suffered severe damage, with many homes and much of the town destroyed.

Four Foursquare churches have been badly damaged or destroyed and will need to be rebuilt. One pastor and several other church members were injured, and there are reports that one couple may have died. Many people have lost their homes, and a large number of people are sleeping in the streets and open fields as a result of aftershocks.

There is an immediate need for food and basic supplies for those who have been affected by this tragedy. Please join the Foursquare family in prayer for:

  • The people of Myanmar who have been affected by the earthquake.
  • Needed resources and aid to get to those who need it most at this time.
