Paradise Foursquare Church in Paradise, Calif., and many of its members’ homes are feared lost in the fierce wildfire that swept through northern California this week.

With the fire still uncontained yesterday, access to confirm details had been restricted, but authorities were reporting thousands of buildings destroyed, said Foursquare Disaster Relief (FDR) U.S. National Director Jason Reynolds. No Foursquare members are believed to be among the known casualties.

FDR has released funds to provide emergency supplies to Paradise members, who with others evacuated with “just the clothes on their backs,” said Jason. FDR has also provided funds to Life Church (Chico Foursquare Church) in nearby Chico, where members have been providing meals and emotional support to evacuees in shelters there.

Two FDR chaplains are ready to visit the area to assess how Foursquare can offer further help and support to affected members and minister to other victims, as soon as access is possible.

Jason asked Foursquare prayers for safety for those fighting the fires, and for those dealing “not just with physical loss but emotional loss too.”
