Airport runways vary in length. There are shorter runways that accommodate smaller planes, and longer ones that accommodate large jets. Years ago, a plane overshot the runway in Burbank, Calif., and ended up in a gas station parking lot.
When you have a sizable issue that needs resolution, you should carefully and wisely consider the complexity of the issue and the potential impact your decision will have.
In other words, the bigger the problem, the more you need to scrutinize the factors at play to make the best decision. There are exceptions, but more often than not, quick decisions made with little foresight can wreak havoc for some time.
People often want you to make swift decisions and take action quickly on a problem. Those who pressure you in these scenarios aren’t usually the ones living with the consequences of the choice. You are.
Give yourself a longer runway for the most significant issues—you’ll likely not regret that you did.
Reflect + Pray
1. Consider what issues you’re facing, and group them into bigger and smaller concerns. Spend time in prayer asking God to help you weigh your decisions and be aware of all factors and consequences of your actions.
2. Ask the Lord to help you slow down and prepare your heart and mind for the big decisions that lay in your future.
3. Ask the Lord to direct our upcoming presidential election for The Foursquare Church, and to prepare the hearts and minds of voters.
4. Please pray for the Southeast District as they prepare to host Foursquare Connection 2019 in Nashville, Tenn., and for all the organizers, speakers and volunteers who are working hard on this time together.
