On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, Dr. Opal P. Mouer passed from this life into the presence of our Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William R. Mouer II. She is survived by a daughter, Norma Mouer Myers (Dan); a son, William Mouer III (Harriet); four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Sister Mouer served churches in California and Ohio before going to Mount Vernon Bible College (MVBC) in 1960, where the Mouers served until 1978. While her husband served as executive dean of the college, Sister Mouer served as part of the faculty, as registrar, and as director of the college’s general office operations; she fulfilled various other roles as necessary. She touched hundreds of lives with her gracious approach to serving the Lord and those who had been commended to her care. Those she helped train for ministry and in whose lives she invested will continue to bear fruit that lasts throughout eternity.

At the conclusion of her time at MVBC, Sister Mouer was awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of her excellent and sacrificial service. In the ensuing years, she continued to minister with her husband in Portland, Ore., and Roanoke, Va., until her retirement in 1990.

A memorial service is planned for Monday, May 11, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Amherst Foursquare Church in Amherst, Ohio. The Mouer family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The William R. Mouer Scholarship Fund at Life Pacific College. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the following address:
