When I think about kindness, I’m reminded of my mom.

When I was a child, she would constantly remind my five siblings and me to be kind and considerate toward one another. Yet, it seemed like the most difficult thing to do. In Ephesians, Paul encourages us to live out kindness as evidence of the Spirit at work in our lives.

Kindness is goodness in action, doing what’s best for others even when they don’t deserve it, and being patient with those who are difficult. God’s kindness to us was planned and intentional. Jesus went the extra mile to lift us out of destruction, changing our lives. As I give Him free reign over my life, His presence and my openness bring about amazing opportunities for the fruit of kindness to become more evident in my life.

The Holy Spirit wants to help us be channels of God’s kindness by our actions to others. Let’s go the extra mile today and live out the kindness of the Lord to a world that desperately needs it.

Paul encourages us to live out kindness as evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. The Spirit-Filled Life Bible describes kindness as goodness in action, gentleness in dealing with others, and doing what’s best for others, even when they don’t deserve it.
