Waiting can be the hardest thing we do. Sometimes it is the most mundane thing. At times, waiting can even be heartbreaking.

In the Scriptures, we have numerous examples of people waiting. Joseph waited in light of his dream (Gen. 37:1-10). Abraham waited for the fulfillment of God’s promise to him (Gen. 18). David waited for his unlikely promotion (1 Sam. 16). Joshua waited for the realization of his destiny (Josh. 1:1-9).

Take heart: Waiting for God’s plan is one of the most important things you can do. And doing it is no easy task, but God will bless your patience.

“Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors” (Prov. 8:34, NKJV).

Reflect + Pray

1. Think about a situation in your life where God has instructed you to wait. How are you handling it?

2. Confess to the Lord any situation where you do not have patience to wait, and ask God to give you a patient heart.

3. Please lift up those participating in Foursquare missionary training this week. Ask God to confirm and grow the call on their hearts. Pray for the team discipling and sending them, and that the populations where they will serve will be ready to receive the gospel message.

4. Ask God to bless Foursquare missionaries who are currently deployed, and to provide inroads to share the Good News with the unreached people groups of the world. Download the FMI monthly prayer guide here.

  1. God calls us to wait. In March of2017 my 19 year son ran away and we have not heard from him at all. Both myself and my wife have set this down at Gods feet and are waiting for his return or contact. I know God is working on this and has called us to wait. This is so hard to do sometimes i just want my son back in my life. I know God is faithful and will honor my waiting. God knows where my son is at and i know God is working on this. So by Faith i wait for the return of my son.
