The new pattern is being introduced in the light of these considerations:
1. It makes possible a return to our homes on Friday, rather than Saturday, enabling most pastors to more effectively prepare themselves and their staff for the weekend services, especially as many begin on Saturday.
2. Most pastors are able to make their departure for convention after concluding their Memorial Day Sunday worship services. In fact, many find that day among the easiest to arrange for a staff pastor or lay leader to conduct the services without distracting from body-life momentum.
3. As forthcoming registration information will show, a preferred rate for all our Foursquare conventioneers will be available from May 26-June 3, which will allow all who might wish to do so to take advantage of such a premium hotel facility, at such an enjoyable rest or vacation destination.
For review: At the 2002 Convention, movement of our annual convention to the week of Memorial Day was announced. This action was motivated by the fact it has become increasingly difficult to both (1) secure convention hotel sites on dates earlier in the spring, and (2) at the same time keep room rates within budgetary reason for most of our constituency.
All our leadership desire to serve the best interests of all our pastors and people, (a) by providing a worthy convention site, (b) with the best possible room prices, and (c) within a schedule that benefits most of our Church Family.
Tentative pre-Convention schedule:
Saturday, Global Council meeting
Sunday, pre-Convention Worship Service–9:30-10:45 a.m.
(Welcoming any early arrivals to this family worship service)
Monday, Executive Council–8:45-11:15 a.m.
Executive Council Luncheon–12 Noon to 2:30.
