In Mark 5, Jesus was in the middle of a crowd when a woman touched Him.

This woman had been bleeding for 12 years, and verse 26 says she had spent all of her money on doctors. She had suffered much, and likely lived in isolation due to Jewish laws.

The woman reached out and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, saying, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well” (v.28). Jesus’ response? Our Lord affectionately addressed her as “daughter.” I wonder if she had ever been greeted with respect and dignity. Jesus said to her that, by her faith, she was healed and made whole.

Faith doesn’t ask one time—it refuses to quit, and it won’t give up or in. Whatever your problem is, or however long you have dealt with it, don’t shrink back. Don’t stay in isolation. Press into the One who can deliver you.

Reflect + Pray

1. From what affliction have you given up on ever receiving relief? Confess it to the Lord, and ask Him for healing.

2. Pray and ask Jesus to give you His tender spirit and compassion when interacting with those who need His healing.

3. Sunday is the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. Please lift up the Holy Land, and ask God to grant peace to all who live and visit there.
