Lompoc Foursquare Church is known as a church that loves its city. So much so, that the city of Lompoc, Calif., wouldn’t function as well without the congregation and the hours of volunteer service they provide.

During Foursquare Connection 2012, which took place in Phoenix from May 28–31, Senior Pastor Bernie Federmann told the convention body that he believes “there is not a greater sound anywhere than the sound of love.”

To build such a culture of love in his church, which he has pastored for 25 years, Pastor Bernie personally started volunteering. Once his congregation saw the excitement and the fruit of his efforts, individuals began to come forward to join him in service to their community.

Soon people throughout the church began giving back to their community in droves. The church now has partnerships with the local police department and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, among other local agencies.

Foursquare.org found Lompoc church member Trisha Childs so inspiring that a story ran on her service to the local police.

Pastor Bernie notes that although he has been invited to pastor other churches, he knows God wants him to keep his roots in Lompoc right now. He told God: “I’m going to love these people You’ve allowed me to pastor. Then I’m going to love people outside the walls of the church.”

Watch Pastor Bernie in this informative and inspiring eight-minute video tell how he has loved the people of Lompoc and seen God change lives.
