A decision to merge the Bay Area and South Bay Districts of Foursquare Churches into the newly expanded Bay Area District (San Francisco) was announced today by Glenn Burris Jr., general supervisor and vice president of U.S. operations of The Foursquare Church, on behalf of President Jack Hayford and the board of directors. The board appointed Ron Pinkston as supervisor of the newly enlarged district.
Following graduation from from Life Pacific College (formerly called LIFE Bible College), Ron and Susan Pinkston planted their first church in Winters, Calif., a ministry that became the largest and most influential church in the community under their leadership. In 1994, the Pinkstons assumed the pastorate of East Bay Fellowship in Danville, Calif., and that congregation has experienced similar growth. Ron became district supervisor of the Bay Area District in January 2003 and his passion for the nurture and health of pastoral leaders will now extend to the churches and ministries of the former South Bay District as well.
Glenn expressed gratitude for the devotion and leadership of Al and Valerie Soto who have faithfully served the South Bay District as supervisors for the past five years. Glenn also thanked Steve Shober, interim supervisor, for his invaluable assistance to the district during the past year. Family Life Center, the congregation the Sotos have pastored for two decades recently navigated physical expansion, and during the same time, Al experienced a series of health issues. They have resigned their pastorate and as Al’s health improves will serve with Pastor Daren Laws at Heritage, the Lincoln, Calif. Foursquare Church.
The district expansion and appointment of Ron as supervisor are decisions that have been prayerfully considered by the respective district councils, the Foursquare board and the supervisors themselves in partnership with regional supervisor Robby Booth. The expansion and appointment are effective March 1, 2008.
