Showing up in crisis

Whether the crisis is large or small, there are people in crisis everywhere. As pastors and ministry leaders, it is vitally important to know how to walk people through crisis well. In this workshop, first presented at Foursquare Connection 2025, Sara Eads, director of Foursquare Chaplains International, gives pastors and other ministry leaders practical advice on how best to serve people in crisis. She provides advice on how to actively listen to others, helpful questions to ask, actions to take, and a few things to avoid. In all things, she encourages pastors and leaders to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit so they can be safe people and create safe places for those in crisis.
