Traditionally, leadership transitions in ministry have been described as a baton pass: one generation hands things off to the next. But is this the best way to do things? In this workshop, first presented at Foursquare Connection 2025, Pastor Tim Clark describes the challenges with the baton-pass leadership model and provides an alternative: everybody plays. Using the analogy of a soccer team (where both rookie and seasoned players make up the starting team), he provides suggestions and examples of how this can be done within churches and the importance of involving every generation in leadership.
