Developing leaders

Discipling believers and developing leaders are essential tasks for every church. Churches want to help people grow and become who God created them to be so they can do kingdom work. But what does that look like? In this workshop, first presented at Foursquare Connection 2025, Gary Matsdorf, D.D., and Pastor Beth Hackbarth explain The Foursquare Church’s Four-Stage Model and how it relates to local churches. They outline a journey of growth that contains four elements— discipleship, discovery, development and deployment—and provide a helpful framework for thinking through both discipleship and leadership in any and every church context.
