A Family Pursing His Presence: a devotional

Associate Supervisor of the Central District Esperanza Morphis reminds us of the urgency and the passion we should have when seeking the presence of God.

At Foursquare Connection in Denver, Pastor Randy released three prophetic anchors designed to shape and propel our Foursquare family into the next five years. The first—and arguably the most foundational—is this: Pursuing His Presence.

This pursuit is not passive. It is a divine summons. It begins with spiritual hunger, is sustained by holy passion, and is compelled by covenantal love. True pursuit draws us beyond the borders of comfort and familiarity, into the unseen, the eternal and the yet-to-be-fulfilled purposes of God.

Aligned with this prophetic invitation is a strategic mandate: to express, embolden and develop more and growing leaders together on mission. This unified pursuit of His presence, together with the intentional development of emerging leaders, will empower us to minister with fresh creativity and Spirit-led innovation—partnering with new voices and emerging leaders across our global Foursquare movement.

In Genesis 3:8–10, God walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. But when they withdrew, He asked a question that still reverberates with prophetic urgency. “Where are you?”

We are not just individuals in pursuit—we are a family, joined together in a sacred, corporate response to the Father’s enduring invitation. From Eden’s Garden to this very moment, the voice of the Lord continues to echo across generations: “Where are you?”

Have we leaned in to hear the heartbeat of our Father—or have we drifted, listening to the heartbeat of an insecurity, failure or disappointment?

Are we truly pursuing Him—or have we become content with performance?

Like Adam, we must recognize that God misses our walks. His desire has never been transactional; it has always been relational. From the dawn of creation until now, His invitation remains unchanged: “Come walk with Me.”

He does not seek our perfection; He longs for our proximity.
He is not moved by our performance; He is drawn to our presence.
He knows when we are near—and He feels when we are far.

The unchanging God still burns with fresh passion for renewed communion. This pursuit is not a suggestion. It is not seasonal. It is not casual. It is sacred. It is urgent. It is fervent.

Psalm 63:8 (TPT) captures the cry of the awakened heart: “With passion I pursue and cling to You. Because I feel Your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to Your heart.”

This is the picture of who we are: a people fully alive in holy pursuit, awakened and anchored in His nearness.

We are not called to be a denomination defined merely by organizational strength or excellent programming. We are called to be a family gripped by God—clinging to Him with unwavering devotion and refusing to move anywhere without His presence.

As we step into this new season, may the Foursquare family across the nation rise as one voice, with hearts postured in humility and hunger, whispering with reverent urgency: Here we are Lord.

We will not turn our heart to another.

We will not go if You don’t go with us.
