During devotions one morning, I was deeply moved while reading 2 Peter 3:9. Peter’s heart and passion are evident in his words to his “brethren” in northern Galatia.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9, NKJV).

The words that hit the target that morning, “not willing that any should perish,” brought fresh fire and further increased my strong resolve that our Foursquare global family is distinctly called as a movement to keep our vision—our reason for all that we do—firmly fixed on the Lord’s highest priority: the Great Commission. The ache of our Father’s heart for the lost must become the burning purpose in our lives, giving us reason to get out of bed every morning.

As you may recall, the Five Stakes were agreed upon as a body during our 2014 convention in Dallas. Subsequent to that, significant progress has been made through Reimagine 1.0 in the way our central office has started to streamline our national structure, releasing initiative to our local congregations as never before.

Stake 1—Align everything Foursquare to the Great Commission—will be the one Stake that will always remain. The actualization of all the other Stakes will come about as we adhere to this first and highest value.

We’ll be giving updates about all of the Five Stakes at Foursquare Connection 2016 in Hawaii. Our mission, “The Whole Church Taking the Whole Gospel to the Whole World,” is an urgent call. Reports show that 87 percent of missions funding goes to those who have already heard; 12 percent to those who have heard but not yet responded; and only 1 percent to the unreached!

I invite you to review these milestones of the Five Stakes with fresh vision and commitment.

As we come together for Connection 2016 and consider the theme, “Empowered,” take that statement as a declaration of our new season of powerful partnership. The Foursquare Church is called by the Lord Himself to such a noble cause—that none should perish.
