Dr. Ronald D. Williams, who served The Foursquare Church in various capacities for more than 48 years, went to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 25, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 73 years old.
Ron was a pastor, missionary, author and educator. He served as a Foursquare Missions International (FMI) missionary in Hong Kong from 1969 to 1985, following a five-year term as senior pastor in British Columbia. He served on the board of directors of The Foursquare Church for 15 years, from 1985 to 2000, and as an observer on the board through 2002.
During that time, he also operated as the head of the communications department; from 1992 to 2002, he served as the chief communications officer of The Foursquare Church.
Just prior to his retirement in 2007, Ron was on special assignment with the executive department, working very closely with the president. Even after Ron “retired,” he continued in pastoral ministry and often conducted special meetings from various churches.
“Ron Williams was a true statesman in The Foursquare Church,” says President Glenn Burris Jr. “He was a remarkably gifted man, and he used his time and talents to advance the kingdom. He will be greatly missed.”
Ron is survived by his wife, Lorretta, and his three sons, Scott, Mark and Derek, and their families. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole. Prayer is requested for the Williams family as they walk through this difficult time of loss and grief.
The memorial service for Ron Williams will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella, 3701 Suhre Street, Lake Isabella, CA 93240 at 1:00 p.m.
