When it comes to driving, I’m a drifter. Thanks to the safety reflectors on both sides of my driving lane, my wife is now alerted each time I drift into the next lane or on the shoulder. I can’t help it—I get a little distracted at times! I know my drifting is dangerous, and hopefully, the new California law requiring cell phone users to utilize hands-free devices will improve my driving habits. Debbie’s not totally convinced. She suspects that I have deeper issues. My response: “Thanks, honey!”

The primary solution to life’s distractions lies in our willingness to commit to certain disciplines. We don’t always take to them naturally and sometimes we even resist them. But disciplines tend to reflect the lessons others have learned from missteps, mishaps and general mistakes!

Solomon goes to great length to instruct and warn us about certain life principles that would serve us well. Think of them as safety reflectors that let you know when you’re drifting. The following list is only a sample of the valuable lessons this wise man discovered during his spiritual journey. Please take some time to meditate on them:

  • Unconditional Commitment – Proverbs 21:3
  • Uncommon Compassion – Proverbs 21:13
  • Unyielding Conviction – Proverbs 21:22
  • Unrestrained Courage – Proverbs 21:31

“Make me walk in the path of Your commandments.” -Psalm 119:35 (NKJV)
